For every #Punekar “Ganeshotsav” is the favourite time of the year. These 10 days are the most important days of the year. These 10 days are filled with Devotion, Passion and Emotion. A festival dedicated to Ganapati Bappa, The Elephant God.
Almost every household bring a Ganapati Idol for certain duration ranging from 1 to 10. Everybody welcomes bappa with the chanting of “Ganapati Bappa Moraya” offer bappa his favourite food “Modak”. During the festival days Bappa becomes a family member!
Not just households but this fetival is celebrated socially too. not only Modak, tons of desserts, Decorations, Street Plays are few highlights of this festivall. But the best part of it is The Dhol Tasha Pathak .(Pathak is a Marathi word used for group of people who play dhol tasha).
Vibrant Groups perform their musical art in front of Bappa during the festival. The preparation starts nearly 2 months before festival. Every person makes time from his daily routine to enjoy the beats and offer his devotion to Bappa in such a way that is unique itself.
This Pathak Named ” Om Wadya Pathak”. I am proudly associated with it since its inception in 2012. And since then its growing each year!
Om Wadya Pathak carries its different identity. It’s not just about Music but also Discipline! Offering Devotion to Ganapati Bappa with our music during Festival and Service for Society throughout year by various activities.
This years Ganapati festival just ended on 15th September. This year was very special for us! We stood up to the expectations of spectators and also grown up as a Pathak with a lot experiences.
The Preparation: Most Important part is to prepare your instruments for the “Miravnuk or Procession”
This video is of Bhagwa Dhwaj which is most Sacred and Important part of our Pathak. Every Dhwaj Dharak ensures this sacred Bhagwa Dhwaj always always remains High enough and give Inspiration to each and everyone in the Pathak.
Volunteers with Dhol and Tasha are always behind “Dhwaj Gat”. Aligned in a line with Discipline.
Om Wadya Pathak at its best

This is the best time of the year! Being a “Vadak” teaches a lot of things. Discipline, Social Values, Endurance! It also gives so many new friends each year and countless memories which are always near to heart!
Now it will be a long wait of 10 months that we will play dhol again! Everytime I see this photo, it gives me goosebumps and my mind lost in the treasure of memories and I hope that next year My Bappa will come early and I will be again playing dhol for Bappa with my friends who are family and together we are called as “OM WADYA PATHAK” .
